My name is Ilias Flaounas and I am a Research Assistant at University of Bristol working for the FP7 project CompLACS.

My scientific interests span different areas of Artificial Intelligence including machine learning, data mining and natural language processing. My current research is on the large scale analysis of news-media content and intelligent systems.

I obtained my first degree by the Dept. of Informatics and Telecommunications, University of Athens in June 2003. On 2011 I completed my PhD at Pattern Analysis and Intelligent Systems group in Dept of Computer Science at the University of Bristol under the supervision of Prof. Nello Cristianini.
For my PhD studies I received a studentship from Onassis Public Interest Foundation.
